How to Block a Phone Number calling you

There are several ways to Block a Phone Number calling you at your landline or mobile. Few of them are given below, you can analyse and if the method seems appropriate, you can adapt any of the given below.


  1. Have a Word with the annoying caller if possible and convey that you do not wish to receive calls from the caller. In case you have done that already or you cannot or do not want to have a word with the caller, continue reading.
  2. How about having a word with the Telephone Service Provider? Call to your Telephone Service Provider may be free as well. In case your telephone service provider can block a specific number number from calling you without any hassle, this can be an easiest and the best possible way for blocking the number. However in case you wish to block the number temporarily only, you might require to call your telephone service provider / operator again to unlock the number.   3. In case you are still reading and above two steps have not solved the issue, now you would need to take the appropriate action depending on whether your phone number is mobile or landline. For Landline Phones, move to step 7 and for mobile phone continue reading...
  4. Mobile Phones run an operating system and can also run compatible software utilities. Blocking a Phone Number can be done by an appropriate compatible software utility. Now a days mobile phones are very much sophisticated and include a large number of softwares inbuilt / pre installed on your mobile operating system. Does your mobile phone has an option to add a telephone number to screened list? My mobiles does have the option to add a contact to screened list, however when a number from the screened list calls, my phone does not ring but the number is displayed as a Missed Call. Your Mobile Phone may have different / relative functionality inbuilt / pre-installed, do have a look, select any of the contact and find out the available options or google block number . You may find a way to block the number preinstalled / inbuilt or you may find a 3rd party software utility to block the number. In case you do find a way to block the number using a software according to your requirment, it's great and now you do not need to worry about the concerned caller(s), however in case still you cannot block the number, continue reading..
  5. In case you are still reading and still have not found the solution, consider reviewing above ways to block number as proceeding ahead is going to be more difficult and might cost you money as well.   6. Can you switch mobile operator and keep your current mobile number? Can you change your mobile number and keep it secret from the concerned caller? Can you change / exchange your mobile to another one which has the block number option?. In case you opt to change your mobile number or telephone operator, do consider the overhead you will have to afford and this might not be a preferred solution.
  7. In case you want to block incoming numbers on your landline and any of the above solution(s), have not helped. How about getting a Sophisticated Handset, in which you can, block specified number(s) using the caller id of the concerned caller?
